This cookbook for Two has a couple of things going for it, and a few things that make me want to pull out my hair.First, the good: The recipes I read in depth appear to (mostly) be portioned for 2-3 people. Many of them will be for a pair of very hearty appetites, but I'm not going to judge someone on their portion size. Some, however, are clearly designed to feed a lot more, like Grandma's Special Pasta (1 lb penne pasta) and Fried Pinto Beans (1 lb of beans). The recipes also appear to have decent instructions, for the most part, and timing appears to be good. But there are a few that gave me pause. Those Fried Pinto Beans was one, it called for 2 cups of chicken stock for a pound of partially-soaked (20 minutes only) beans. There are no instructions for frying them, so either the recipe is incomplete, or the beans will end up frying in the inadequate liquid while your Instant Pot displays a big error message. I doubt this recipe was tested.Now, the bad: Recipes appear in very odd places. Organization is so bad that it's almost funny. BREAKFAST includes Pasta and Tuna Casserole, Instant Baked Potatoes, Instant Easy Salad (egg salad), Simply Baked Sweet Potatoes, Easy Egg Macaroni (macaroni salad), Mashed Potatoes for Two, Black Beans and Rice, Couscous Salad Breakfast (couscous, red pepper, butter, s&p, chicken stock), Anasazi Beans (beans and mushrooms, seasoned with onions, paprika, red miso, tamari and liquid smoke, cooked in beef broth), Tasty Fried Shrimps (just fried shrimp), and more. Mahi Mahi filets are in SIDE DISHES, along with Crispy Salmon Fillet. In MAINS I discovered Quinoa Dish (½ cup quinoa with seasonings and liquid), which is clearly a side dish, Homemade Pho Dish (instructions refer to it as a soup, so it clearly belongs in SOUPS), and well, you get the idea. Crispy Tasty Chicken appears twice (MAINS and APPETIZERS) but is 2 radically different dishes, the main is 1 lb of chicken breast, the appetizer is 6 chicken thighs, cooked, then breaded and baked. It seems anything can be an Appetizer, simply by virtue of the instructions telling us to serve the dish as an appetizer.I also found the book short on soups and mains, with only 16 soups and 38 mains. To be sure, more of these items are sprinkled throughout the remaining chapters (like the pho in Mains and salmon in Sides, and several rib recipes in Appetizers), but one shouldn't have to go on a scavenger hunt to find them. Note that the Mains chapter is extremely heavy on seafood, with almost a third of the chapter some kind of seafood. If you're a beef lover, this book is not for you, with only 9 beef recipes in Mains.Recapping, most recipes appear to have good timing and complete instructions and mostly serve 2, although some clearly are meant for 4 or more. Not all recipes are cooked under pressure (Fried Shrimp is one). Organization is awful. The only way reliable way to locate a recipe is to read the entire ToC, because there is no index. I'm not suggesting you give it a pass, just that you buy it with eyes wide open.

I recently received an Instant Pot mini and this cookbook seemed to be reviewed well. It’s a disorganized mess, and the recipes incredibly basic. For example, many of the recipes list the ingredients ( al,ost none include any spices or herbs of any kind btw, talk about bland city) and throw them all in the IP, pressure cook and serve. The author couldn’t even be bothered to identify his ingredients to Americans. Caster sugar, slat, capsicum, etc. It may have required too much effort for the author to parenthesize the ingredients that are unfamiliar.This recipe is his Chestnut Breakfast. Sugar, water, chestnuts and rum. Wow. What a lot of thought to come up with a rum based breakfast. It’s kind of obvious the author is trying to capitalize on the IP movement and is not a cook nor a chef. These recipes are a complete joke and waste of time.I’m asking Amazon for a refund, this cookbook is so bad it’s not worth a dollar let alone $3 and $12. Absolutely horrible and tasteless “recipes.” Don’t be scammed.

A good number of recipes but not terribly helpful. Book is organized somewhat poorly and the majority of recipes I'd mark as bland. Very bland. The ingredients listings are OK but basic cooking instructions for each recipe leave a LOT to be desired unless making the most basic dish. Given the many cooking variables (and possibilities) of all the current models I would hope that a cookbook would spell out specifically what settings should be used for each recipe rather than have to guess. An setting of 'high' pressure cooker settings vs 'low' being a good example.

This book is so unorganized, it is difficult to find what you need. Main dishes are in breakfast section, there's a blank page and at least 1 dish failed to use the InstantPot altogether. If you are used to organized, detailed and well-edited cookbooks, this is NOT to book for you. I use my InstantPot to save time, which is lost hunting through 150 pages for a simple chicken dish.

This was such a disappointment. There was a great list of recipes in the intro, but no page numbers to connect them. Makes it very difficult,,almost impossible to navigate. There were many typos, and my sense is that they were in such a hurry to publish this, that it was not polished.I was goimg to return it, but didn't want to pay postage.Not very usable unless you are willing to poke around to find the right page. Disaster.

Not impressed with this book. I will continue just to print things off the internet.

The editing in this book is horrible. I found numerous mistakes such as missed punctuation, ingredients listed twice, and the wrong ingredient listed in the directions. The book does not give information on how to depressurize the Instant Pot in any of the recipes. Odd measurements are used, such as 3 tablespoons of green beans.

Lots of great recipes. Have tried a few. I got an Instant Pot 3 qt for Christmas and was a little intimidated but got pasted that. Food is great!

The third book is just as good as the first. Twists and turns and even more character development. A little predictable, but still a fun read!

Charlie Holmberg’s Paper Magician series has a lot going for it. The magic system is great: magicians have to bond to a specific manmade material, and can then perform spells only by manipulating that material. I also like the early-twentieth-century-England setting. And the characters are strong: Ceony Twill, the protagonist, is distinct and likable, as is Emery Thane, her love interest and mentor in the art of Folding paper.But I’m mixed about the books' lengths. They all run about 220 pages, and while that makes for quick reads and accelerated pacing, sometimes the stories feel underdeveloped.The Master Magician, Holmberg’s third entry in the series, is the guiltiest of this, probably because there are multiple plotlines. Ceony, now nearly done with her apprenticeship to Thane, toggles between preparing for her final Folding test and hunting a villain she thought she’d bested in the second book, The Glass Magician. Either one of these could have made a good tale on its own. But combined, they come off a bit rushed, especially the callback to the old foe. Sometimes subplots dilute a story more than they intensify it.I’m also not sure I like how powerful Ceony is becoming. Part of the charm of the first book was how she went from being skeptical of a Folder’s ability to do anything useful to being proud of working spells with paper. In The Glass Magician, though, Ceony learned how to bond to other materials. And in The Master Magician, she’s slinging fireballs and teleporting through mirrors. How long until paper is just an afterthought?Don’t get me wrong—I picked up The Master Magician because I wanted something fast and fun, and Holmberg delivered on both counts. If you’re looking for a bite-sized diversion, The Paper Magician series is worth a try.Just don’t be surprised if it feels a few hundred pages too short.

I loved the first two books in this series and was super excited to read this book. I was soooo disappointed. Ceony has not grown as a character at all. Literally everything that goes wrong is her fault. It is like reading Twilight. The series showed so much promise in the first book and then quickly went down hill in the following books. I've already decided I won't be continuing the series and I don't know if I will bother reading other books by this author. I feel like she does a great job painting a picture of the world in which her stories take place but then doesn't develop her characters. I feel like based on the first two books, there are several ways the author could have set up for Saraj to go after Ceony, but for some reason, she makes Ceony make horrible, shortsighted, selfish decisions that sets the chain of motion in place so that she can force a confrontation between Ceony and Saraj.

This is the last book in the Paper Magician Trilogy.On the romance side of the story: Ceony is nearing the end of her 2 year apprenticeship under the tutelage of Magician Thane. When last we saw them, Ceony had been a live-in apprentice for just over 3 months. Between that time and the start of this book, Ceony’s romance with Thane has developed, but that development has occurred “off stage”, between books. I found that disappointing because I wanted to be there for that stuff! Sigh… of frustration.However, the romance development I missed, isn’t what I initially think it is. If you’re expecting passion and sex and angst, you won’t get that here. That said, early on in this story I experienced one of the most romantic scenes I have read in a while. I slapped my hands over my heart as I read it and sighed. The end satisfies the romantic in me as well. But the romance is not the focus of the story.Not all villains were “taken care of” in the first 2 books. Ceony is alarmed to learn one is on the loose. She worries about the safety of her family whose details have always been known to all the villains. Of course, true to character, she has to meddle in matters that are under control as far as Thane is concerned. And in meddling, does she make things better or worse?An added element to the story is that Ceony spends the last weeks of her apprenticeship with another Magician instead of Thane, in order to avoid any perceived bias at exam time because of her relationship with Thane.The new student/teacher relationship is fraught with difficulty. Ceony’s arrogance comes to the fore. No humility there. She is an accelerated, brilliant student. It makes sense that she has confidence and considers some lessons beneath her or basic. But her attitude can be off-putting. It jolted me. She reminded me of the arrogant confidence of Dr. House in the popular TV series. I wondered why I could find that arrogance tolerable from a man, but harder to swallow from a young, early 1900’s woman.That said, I still love Ceony. She is courageous and clever, daring and passionate about using all the magic knowledge she possesses for good and defeating evil. And what magic knowledge Ceony has developed! She has a youthful naivete in her that I envy, as she is prepared to take risks I would never have the courage to undertake.I could see some plot-holes, and I often wondered about how Ceony was tolerated by her mentors and associates. Despite this, and the handling of the romance (I wanted MORE ROMANCE), I loved this final book.This was a great end to the trilogy – or was it? There is scope for further books to be written in this Magician series, and I hope they are.The reading experience during this book, and the entire trilogy was unique for me. I was taken on adventurous, mysterious, suspenseful and romantic rides. I lived vicariously. I loved it all.The cover artwork on all three books is great. Goes perfectly with the story.Recommended.

Disappointing end to the series. Ceony was so self absorbed, self righteous, and annoying in this book! I totally understand her hurt and shock over what happened in the last book, but she spends most of this one lying to everyone and being totally reckless. And there are basically no consequences. I'm all for happy endings, but I don't feel like she learned anything after all that drama. And I really, really disliked how Prit was treated. He wasn't exactly likeable, but she was a spoiled brat with him... you'd have thought she was 16 in this book instead of 21.

I evaluated this book for my graduate class on advanced software design. I'm still ambivalent about making it a required text.Strengths: Code examples in Java. Interesting reasoning of applying patterns, especially with respect to variability (a dimension I find is often minimized in many texts). Addresses iterative development with testing, with real examples and detailed analyses of risks. There are exercises, which are useful in a course environment. The reasoning for applying patterns (or not) is quite detailed. The projects (pay station software development) are realistic, although the problem domain might be more suited for people familiar with these devices (in Denmark). The Figure 1 in the "Tour of the book" gives a great map of the case studies, patterns, etc. It's easy to go to specific applications of patterns (the book is quite modular).Weaknesses: When I compare its price to other books on Agile Design and OOD patterns (e.g. Craig Larman's UML 2 and Patterns from 2005), this book is overpriced (almost double the price). There's an eBook option (Kindle) but it's the same price as the hard cover (that doesn't encourage sustainable development). The author introduces a 3-2-1 method that is actually a new name for an old thing. He makes no reference to Protected Variations coined by Larman (which is the same as the 3-2) or Indirection (which is the 1), but oddly cites Larman on a less-important coining of "Don't talk to strangers" for the Law of Demeter pattern. Variability is a big part of this book, but I feel the author doesn't do a good job of showing who else contributed along these lines. The text refers to "stories" from XP, but there's little guidance on how to write stories (despite Agile being in the title). Reliability is also exagerrated. It's defined (borrowed from ISO 9126) but mostly this books is based on writing code that is bug-free via Test-Driven Development in Agile (good material, but not sufficient for true reliability). Reliability also concerns dealing with failures in the software that occur because of environmental problems, for example. This book is not about fault tolerance, even though Reliability in the title might imply it. Again, books such as Larman's address fault tolerance specifically and discuss patterns for achieving it through redundancy.

I used this textbook for an upperclass Applications Programming course with approximately 15 students. The students and I enjoyed the book and found the material engaging, understandable, and helpful for developing good programming practices. The book is a good fit for a course which builds on previous courses in programming, data structures, and algorithms. It teaches students Test Driven Development, Design Patterns, and Software Lifecycle topics in the context of a significant hands-on programming project. It is well-suited to a team-oriented approach, and fits nicely into a series of two-week iterations in a 15 week semester, so students get a feel for an Agile Software Development process. The online Teacher Resources are very useful and useable, and include Lecture Slides, code examples, and suggestions for how the material should be used in several course formats.

My instructor posted the wrong ISBN number for our class textbook. When I received this book, there was a deep gash on the front that went through several chapters of the book. I returned the product and only got a few dollars for my trouble instead of what I initially paid. I was extremely disappointed as I returned the product exactly as it was received.

This was a rental for a class. Came in a bit worse condition than described. Overall, not the best resource for the topic, but descent and was what was required by the professor...

I would not recommend getting the kindle edition. You do not get the toolkit code to access all the resources that are part of the book. If I would have known I would have paid a few more dollars a the publishers for their eBook and got all the resources.

Useless. Rented to use as support for textbook but it is not useful unless you are just memorizing terms. (Which you could do easier and chesper by making flashcards) Each chapter is jusy a crossword puzzle of terms and some fill in the blak questions which I felt missed the mark on the real guts of most of the topics. Dont waste your $$ and just focus on the textbook's reviews at the end of each chapter! I returned this as brand new!! Wasted my rental monies.

Do not buy this book. It is not the real nursing research book. This one is full of stupid crossword puzzles and worthless for students taking a class. I attempted to contact the seller when I started my class and realized the difference. I got no response and ended up having to buy the real book. Buyer beware

This is a supplement to the actual textbook, containing sample research articles, crosswords to reinforce vocabulary, and exercises to reinforce content. This is not the actual content. Buyer beware.
