Cool Animals In the Air, on Land, and In the Sea is another non-fiction animal book from the masterminds at Speedy Publishing as sold by Baby Professor. This company has a formula that they use when writing books. It typically has one page of text followed by one or two pages of photographs. I admire this series of books based off the lovely photographs but at times it appears if the stories are hastily written, which, when you consider the name speedy publishing, it really seems like that is most likely the case.Reading through Cool Animals in the Air, on Land, and in the Sea I can see that the formula is very much alive. One thing of note is that while they say that the basilisk lizards can walk on water they don't have a photo depicting this. That would have been a very nice addition to the book and would have helped young readers understand what the author meant by walking on water. The same complaint holds true for the mimic octopus. It would have been really cool to show this octopus in action, changing his colors.Besides these few issue the book is well written and easy to rad. I think the vocabulary is appropriate for the target audience.I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for your honest and unbiased review.

We love Speedy Publishing Children’s book series as they usually come with excellent photos and basic references that are quite suitable for the underage, for those small family members at home, for those parents who love to teach their children at home and this type of books serve well for teaching purposes at school too.This book refers to different species of animals that you can see flying through the air, walking on the land or swimming through the water.With beautiful photographs and short references about Lyrebirds (commonly found at Eastern Australia), The Peregrine Falcon, The Rhinoceros Beetles, Basilisk Lizard (the ones with the ability to walk in water), the Cheetah, the Dolphins and the Mimic Octopus which are depicted on this book in high definition (full color) photographs.As this book has beautiful, full colored, high detailed, photographs/pictures you may want to share with your kids and/or students as they can serve as point for further discussions or a way to develop language skill by promoting the children to express themselves about what they see and understand by looking at the photograph or picture.
In this eBook, there are 18 pages. The book is laid out, showing a photo of the animal with a few quick facts. The following page is a new photo of the same type of animal. The book continues to read this way throughout. This is great for young readers, as it keeps them engaged in the photos and doesn’t overload their minds with too much information, yet allows them to announce their thoughts when someone peaks their interest.The Rhinoceros Beetle mentioned in this eBook, was my daughter’s favorite. We had seen a few stag beetles in our yard last summer, and she instantly reminded me that she had seen one like that before! She was so excited!I will mention that I have downloaded the collection of these short kid animal encyclopedias, so I will be sharing some very similar experiences in each of those reviews, since they have the same features, except for the title and contents.As with each of these eBooks, they are an easy quick read for a young child. The photos are beautiful and realistic, giving you the feeling that you can reach out and touch the animals in them. Each book begins with a quick fact.I love that the facts are simple and quick, so that I can read each sentence to my daughter, and then if she doesn’t understand, then I can explain it to her. (She is 5 years old, so still very new to some of the things mentioned here – but could easily be understood by your average 8 year old+).I was pleased to have learned a few things myself while reading through this eBook with her. As we all know how important reading is for our children, I am glad that this was a great bonding experience with my daughter.I am rating this eBook 3 stars. 1 star for photo quality, 1 star for simplicity, 1 star for the facts contained. The reason I am leaving off the 4th & 5th star, is because I feel like the book could contain a bit more. Although I like how every other page shows just a photo of the previous animal mentioned, I think this may have been done in an attempt to lengthen the book to a full 18 pages. I originally expected there to be more than 7 animals mentioned in this book. The 1-3 pages is the cover page, a second title page, then the copyright page sharing the beginning quick fact. Pages 4-17 are of the animals & facts, and the 18th page is left intentionally blank as the end of the eBook.You can imagine my disappointment to find out that none of the animals shown on the cover of this book, are actually contained in the book. I feel as though the title page should reflect what you can anticipate to read about. I can imagine a child seeing the book, who loves Eagles, only to be disappointed that there aren’t any pages with Eagles inside of the book.Out of the many eBooks I have read over the years, I would expect this one to be free, considering the length and contents.I received this eBook at no cost to me, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
