In plain English how the city works. Fun and informative
I am a resident, not a tourist. The book has information that most locals do not know. Let me give an example. ATMs in Latin America can be "touchy", often refusing to dispense money. You quickly learn which ones have mean streaks and which do their jobs. Two months ago I returned to Antigua from a trip to Chiapas. To my surprise, I could not use my debit card in my two favorite reliable spots in Antigua. About this time, I bought Michael Sherer's book. It details a simple and effective way of overcoming this problem without resorting on Western Union, PayPal, cash from friends/relatives, etc. The value of this hack was worth to me at least 25 times more than the cost of the book. Great inside information on culture, restaurants, things to do, places to go, etc. Any complaints? Yes. The publisher needs to let Sherer add an index to assist in locating information.
I am a long-time resident of Antigua, which is, by the way, one of the world's great towns. I know our pueblo well, or thought I did until I read Michael's book. I was impressed with his research, accuracy, and awareness of so much here that I didn't know about.
